Bend it like Beckham.

The truest British experience: football!

When the English change, becoming loud, obtrusive, extroverted hooligans. My ears are still ringing with chants, and profanities.

At Fulham stadium and able to watch boats glide past on the Thames as the sun set into the distance. I somehow managed to get away side section tickets so we were forced to support Everton. We also happened to be in the loudest, most raucous area with an intense police presence.

We (die hard Everton fan now, go the blues!) also lost. Despite being considerably higher in the rankings.

Escaping into the night with a predominately happy (it was the winning sides home stadium) crowd: meaning the silence of the dark night was interrupted by whistling, shouting and revelry. And the galloping hooves of police horses chasing drunken idiots.

Feels like England.
